Garden Nursery Assistant

Role Summary:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Garden Nursery Assistant to join our team. Whether you're a plant lover just starting out or someone with hands-on gardening experience, this is a wonderful opportunity to work in a vibrant, outdoor environment surrounded by plants, flowers, and fellow horticulture enthusiasts.

You'll play a key role in keeping our nursery looking its best while helping customers find the right plants and products for their gardens. Training is provided — a passion for plants and a willingness to learn are all you need to get started.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Water, fertilize, and care for a wide variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees

  • Receive, unpack, and stock plant deliveries and merchandise

  • Assist customers in selecting plants, soils, fertilizers, and gardening supplies

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of greenhouse and outdoor display areas

  • Label and price plants and products accurately

  • Monitor plant health and flag diseased or damaged stock to supervisors

  • Operate a cash register and assist with transactions as needed

  • Support seasonal planting displays, promotions, and events

Role Qualifications:

  • Genuine interest in plants, gardening, or horticulture

  • Ability to work outdoors and in greenhouse environments in varying temperatures

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods

  • Friendly, customer-focused communication style

  • Reliable and punctual with strong attention to detail

  • Prior nursery, retail, or gardening experience is a plus, but not required

  • Knowledge of common plants, pests, or soil types is an advantage
